                               ORDINANCE NO. 10643
                 
                 
                  AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHATTANOOGA CITY CODE,
                  PART II, CHAPTER 18, SECTION 18-123, RELATIVE
                  TO LANDFILL FEES.
                 
                 
                                                    
                 
                 
       	    	 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
       CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE:
       	    	 SECTION 1.  That Chattanooga City Code, Part II, Chapter
       18, Section 18-123, be and the same is hereby amended by deleting 

       subsections (c), (i) and (j) and substituting in lieu thereof new 

       subsections (c), (i) and (j) as follows:
            	 (c)  All private collectors, municipalities,
            government agencies, contractors or others depositing
            waste shall be charged at the rate of twenty-eight
            dollars ($28.00) per ton for dumping, with a minimum of
            twenty-two and 40/100 dollars ($22.40) per load.

            	 (i)  All private collectors, municipalities,
            government agencies, contractors or others depositing
            construction and demolition waste originating within the
            legal boundaries of the City of Chattanooga or Hamilton
            County shall be charged at the rate of fourteen dollars
            ($14.00) per ton for dumping, with a minimum of eleven
            and 20/100 dollars ($11.20) per load.
           
            	 (j)  All private collectors, municipalities,
            government agencies, contractors or others depositing
            waste shall be charged on their "daily average tonnage"
            deposited; for the waste categories identified as
            Garbage (G), Trash (T), Out of County (L), Out of State
            (N) and Fluff (AA) only; during any monthly billing
            period according to the following rate schedule:

            	      	 First 75 tons @ $28.00 per ton,
            	      	 next  75 tons @ $27.00 per ton,
            	      	 next  75 tons @ $26.00 per ton,
            	      	 next  75 tons @ $25.00 per ton,
            	      	 next  75 tons @ $24.00 per ton, and
            	      	 over 375 tons @ $23.00 per ton.
           
            	
       	    	 SECTION 2.  That this Ordinance shall become effective
       two (2) weeks from and after its passage as provided by law, but
       the operative dates of the changes in rates specified herein 
shall
       be January 1, 1998.
